Much of what stands between a patient and their medication is a phone call to someone else. We place those calls ourselves, and we stay with the matter until it is resolved.

Compounded medications are prepared for an individual patient under a valid prescription. They are not FDA-approved products, and we do not compound copies of commercially available drugs. Vaccines are administered by a licensed Kentucky pharmacist under protocol and are subject to age and eligibility requirements.

Questions we get at the counter

Will you contact my doctor for a refill?

Yes. If your refills have run out, let us know and we will contact your prescriber's office, request the renewal, and follow up if we do not receive a response. There is no need for you to place the call or check in with us.

What happens if my insurance declines a medication?

We contact your plan, determine what is holding it up, and either resolve it or work with your physician on a covered alternative. If a prior authorization is required, we initiate it and see it through.

Where are your three locations?

Two in Paintsville and one in Prestonsburg. Our N Mayo Trail store in Paintsville is at 209 N Mayo Trail, Suite B, (606) 789-5995. Our Prestonsburg store is at 334 N Lake Drive, (606) 886-3030. All three locations have a drive-thru window and free parking.

What are your hours of operation?

Monday through Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, Friday and Saturday 9 am to 6 pm, closed Sunday. Holiday hours can vary, so it is worth calling ahead around major holidays.

Do you deliver in Paintsville and Prestonsburg?

Yes, throughout our local service area and at no charge. Telephone the location nearest you to arrange a single delivery or a standing schedule.

How do I transfer my prescriptions to Value-Med?

Telephone us with the names of your medications and the pharmacy that currently holds them. We contact your former pharmacy, request the transfer, and verify your coverage. A new prescription from your physician is not required. Most transfers are ready the same day.

Do you accept Medicare, Medicaid, and my insurance?

We accept Medicare Part D, Kentucky Medicaid, and most commercial and employer plans. Telephone us with your card in hand and we can verify coverage in under a minute.

Do you offer compounding?

Yes. That includes liquid preparations for patients who have difficulty swallowing, dye-free and allergen-free formulations, strengths no manufacturer produces, and veterinary compounds.

May I receive a flu shot without an appointment?

Usually, yes. We also administer shingles, pneumonia, COVID-19, and other routine immunizations. Telephoning ahead during influenza season allows us to have your dose prepared.

Do you carry walkers and wheelchairs?

Yes. We carry canes, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, bath safety equipment, braces, and compression stockings, and we bill Medicare and most insurance for covered items.

Can my medications be packaged by day?

Yes. Blister and bubble packs organize every dose by day and time, and refill synchronization aligns each medication to a single date. Both are a considerable help if you are managing medications for a parent.

Are you accepting applications?

We accept applications for cashiers and pharmacy technicians. Stop in Monday through Saturday at any location to apply or leave a resume.
